It is the mid of July. The sun fires mercilessly. Everyone is looking for a shade and the residents of Sinj know that the best refreshment gives the horse chestnut treetop on Alkarsko Trkalište Street where you can enjoy in the Alka preparations.

The Alka knights will prepare for the most important event – the 303^rd Sinjska Alka – from July 16 to August 2. From Monday to Friday you have an opportunity to be a part of the unique preparations. You can watch carefully how the Alka knights whet their hawk eye and strong hands. The horses bred at the Alka Horse Paddock are getting used to the lively environment and sand on the racetrack.

As August and Alka solemnity get closer, Sinj beats in the rhythm of horses’ movements, the streets of Sinj pulsate and live for the Alka which is on the UNSESCO’s Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Alka festivities start on August 3 at 17:30 when the Bara is held, the Čoja will take place on August 4 at 17:30. The highlight of the festivities is the 303^rd Sinjska Alka which will take place on August 5 at 16:30 when the Alka knights will fight for the victorious Croatian tricolour – a pennant. The winner will be a part of the long and rich history of the Sinjska alka.

The entrance for the preparations, Bara and Čoja is free of charge. Do not miss the opportunity to be a part of such unique events.
