The Days of Alka and the Assumption 2025 – when Sinj becomes its true self!

This summer, Sinj – the home of the Alka knights – becomes an epicenter of cultural, spiritual, and tourist events. The Days of Alka and the Assumption 2025 bring a unique mosaic of tradition, festivities, and vibrant events, inviting you to become a part of something bigger, deeper, and unforgettable.
The festivities of Alka begin long before the Alka tourney (August 3). Besides the Bara and Čoja on Friday and Saturday, the Alka knights prepare intensely throughout July for their most important task – a show of chivalric courage, an eagle’s eye, and a steady right hand that honors a centuries-old tradition. Their preparations give visitors a rare insight into the rigorous training and skills passed down through generations of Alka knights, preserving a link to the glorious past.
The central spiritual event, the Feast of the Assumption (August 15), gathers thousands of pilgrims who come to worship the Miraculous Lady of Sinj, the town's protector. During this period, Sinj becomes an open-air church dedicated fully to Our Lady of Sinj. The procession and religious ceremonies unite the faithful from Croatia and beyond, affirming this tradition as a source of strength and communion.
This year’s cultural and entertainment program offers diverse content and unforgettable evenings for all generations. Music evenings at the Kamičak Fortress promise enchanting memories under Sinj’s cool summer sky. Swingatan brings its distinctive and original sound of “Slavic swing” (June 30, Alka Knights’ Court). The Obradović-Tixier Duo offers a top-tier jazz experience, merging the rhythm of drums and the whisper of the piano into music that knows no boundaries (August 16, Alka Knights’ Court). The energetic, enchanting, and inspired sound of the Elvis Stanić & French Touch Trio blends harmonica, guitar, double bass, and percussion, demonstrating a superb art that elegantly fuses tango, jazz, samba and waltz (August 17, Alka Knights’ Court).
Hopscotch, Chinese jump rope, tug of war, na plojke, and laughter echoing through the streets – this summer, the “Return to Games” event transforms old Dalmatian courtyards and streets into playgrounds once again. Organized by the Tourist Board of Split-Dalmatia County and supported by the Faculty of Kinesiology, the event encourages movement, socialization, and the meeting of generations through games that take us back to a screen-free childhood (July 10, the courtyard of the Franciscan Classical Gymnasium).
We must also mention free, expert-guided tours. Walk through the history of Sinj with guides who know its every stone and story, and get acquainted with its rich cultural and natural heritage. Every Thursday at 9:00 AM, starting from July 17, all throughout July and August, in cooperation with the Association of Tourist Guides “Osiinium”.
The historical play “Siege of Sinj, 1715” (August 7, Main Square)
A spectacular revival of the legendary defense of Sinj from a massive Ottoman army – a journey through time that celebrates the courage, community, and pride of its people. This extraordinary play reminds viewers of the importance of preserving historical heritage and honoring those who defended their home.
