Tour of Croatia – A race through natural beauty

The international bicycle race Tour of Croatia will be held in 6 stages, from April 19 to April 24 2016.

The town of Sinj host two stages, the second and the third. Tour of Croatia is an event which uses the whole of Croatia as its sports arena. The race is more than 1000 kilometers long, with 12 host cities. It passes through more than 100 different sites with more than 500 minutes of live TV broadcast. This year’s race starts in Osijek, with a direct broadcast on HRT and Eurosport, and will be aired on a number of other stations on 6 continents – Europe, North and South America, Asia, Africa and Australia – some of which will broadcast the event live.

Highest ranking teams from the International Cycling Union (UCI) will be competing – a total of 20 teams, as well as some of today’s biggest cycling stars, such as current world champion Peter Sagan, and multiple grand tour winner Alberto Contador. The first edition of Tour of Croatia was held in 2015. It lasted 5 days with the winner Maciej Paterski beating more than 160 contestants.

Along with this sports component, Tour of Croatia represents a unique tourist product because it brings many benefits for the promotion of cities, national parks and the regions. It is a manifestation with a desire to become an important part of the overall tourist offer, especially its cyclo-tourist segment.

The race is organized by the Top Sport Events agency, represented by sports and technical director Vladimir Miholjević, and event and marketing director of the race Ivan Črnjarić.

Tour of Croatia is sponsored by the President of Croatia and the Government of the Republic of Croatia, a number of other sponsors and promoters such as the Croatian Tourist Board, HEP, HRT, Lakes National Park Plitvice, Krka National Park...

Stage II
Plitvice Lakes National Park – Sinj – Split
Date: 20 April 2016
Stage length: 240 km
Vertical Climb: 2030 hm

The start is on Plitvice Lakes at 9:48h; the stage leads us through beautiful Lika, Korenica, Krbava field, Velebit, Gračac, Knin, and continues alongside Peruća Lake (146,6 km around 13:30 Maljkovo, Hrvace), Town of Sinj (193 km around 14:30 Karakašica, Suhać, Town of Sinj – state road D-1 – Ivan Lovrić Elementary School, Brnaze, Dicmo, Prisoje), Dugopolje, Klis, Solin.

The finish line is on Split’s Riva.

Stage III
Makarska – Sinj – Šibenik
Date: 21 April 2016
Stage length: 189.8 km
Vertical climb: 2744 hm

The start is in Makarska at 11:00h; the stage leads through Makarska rivijera, Nature park Biokovo, Omiš, Cetina river flow, Šestanovac, Buško blato Lake, Trilj, Sinj (53km around 12:45h – Turjaci, Brnaze, Town of Sinj, Put Župića – Radošić Donji, Klanac – Radošić Gornji, Sutina), Čavoglave, Drniš, Krka National Park, Visovac, Skradin.

The finish line is in Šibenik.
