Cetina region - adrenaline paradise on earth

30.05.2018.

The town of Sinj and the Cetinska krajina region are those rare regions which offer such a variety in sports and recreational activities. Mild climate and an excellent geographical position in the karst relief have made possible that almost every open-air activity has a suitable terrain. Mountains and valleys, a lake and a river, fertile fields and rough rocks, natural paths… if you can imagine it, it exists, and it’s in Sinj and its surrounding area.

Those adrenaline junkies who enjoy heights and cruising the skies will surely enjoy what they find on Greda in Hrvace, where they can try out paragliding, while Sinj airfield offers parachuting, and particularly attractive manifestations, such as the Air Show or the Alka parachuting cup, which attracts a great number of visitors year after year. Sinj Gliding Cup (26 May –31 August 2018) is the most beautiful form of flying; without the buzzing of the engine, the pilot and the aircraft use wind, mountain slopes and thermal air currents.

For those who rather prefer staying on solid ground, the Cetinska krajina region offers wonderful labyrinths of hiking, mountain and biking trails. There are several mountain societies active in the wider Sinj area, with long traditions and numerous members who often organize climbs, fieldtrips and eco-actions.

The diverse network of bike paths already has its regular visitors, and the valuable bike clubs traditionally organize their yearly gathering To the Cetina spring (10 June 2018) and the XCO race of the Croatian Cup, the challenging Wolf path under Kamešnica.

Depending on the wishes and abilities of the visitors, different hiking and trekking tours are also organized, as well as quad and buggy rides, and jeep safaris, offering an unforgettable adventure and a special encounter with pristine nature.

The more competitive adventurists will certainly try the unique Cetina Adventure (June 2 2018), which combines a variety of adrenaline disciplines, where the participating teams face natural obstacles. That same day the visitors can participate in the dynamic City challenge and get to know the beauties of the chivalric town of Sinj, while discovering the unknown details of the town under Kamičak fort.

Directly connected to Alka, the equestrianism tradition of Sinj is over three centuries old. The noble steeds of the Alka stables draw attention with quality and grace. Numerous equestrian clubs are successful in the sport, and offer the possibilities of recreational and therapeutic riding. Traditionally, every year in September, memorial galloping races are organized, gathering the most quality steeds from Croatia and abroad.

For those who enjoy water sports, a special experience is the descent on the karst beauty, the Cetina River, in kayaks or canoes, or rowing on the Peruća Lake. It is easier to defy the summer days with clear, cold waters.

You will surely find something for yourself in this diverse offer, and undoubtedly make unforgettable memories, while taking home with you a piece of heaven on Earth.
