9th Sinj Village Fair

24.07.2018.

The Sinj Tourist Board is organizing the 9th Sinj Village Fair which will take place from August 2 to August 4 at Dr. Franjo Tuđman Square.

The event should see more than 40 exhibitors from Split, Kaštela, Marina, Vrgorac, Zagorje and Cetinska Krajina Region who will exhibit and offer diverse products – from decorations and handicrafts to gourmet delicacies and products from our villages and islands. The promotion of traditional hand-wheel pottery from Potravlje will be held during the Fair to preserve the traditional crafts. The visitors will have an opportunity to see how clay pots are made by the master of pottery – Ivana Knezović. This traditional craft was nominated for the UNESCO’s protection by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia and the Sinj Tourist Board organizes well visited workshops under sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture. It is important to mention the almost forgotten skill of making peasant shoes (Ljilja Vojković) and wooden tools (Jozo Bešlić).

The visitors will be able to make wooden tools and familiarize with the customs of the region through indigenous products and traditional crafts.

A wine tasting will be organized within the Fair. Quality local Sinj’s wines Hrvaština and Maraština produced by OPG Mažurin will be served with local gourmet delicacies – sinjski arambaši and uštipci for free. The Cetina region, due to the richness of the plant world, is extremely suitable for beeswax. To the joy of many breeders, the result is honey of high quality, which will also delight guests.

Besides the exhibition and enogastronomic area, the visitors will enjoy the entertainment program with the participation of numerous associations and cultural-artistic companies. Our guests will be able to see the performances of the Sinj majorettes, KUD Cetina, KUD Vrilo, Association for the preservation of the heritage of Cetina region, and HKUD of Peruća. Both traditional folk dancing and traditional singing will be performed.

On August 3rd, the country group Ljuta Kuća will perform. At the presentation of the Airsoft Club Alkar, the visitors will be able to find out everything they wish about this increasingly popular sporting activity.

By organizing the Sinj Village Fair, the Sinj Tourist Board offers interested residents and visitors a chance to taste and buy high-quality traditional domestic products that are usually difficult to find because most of them are not available in stores. At the same time, small and medium-sized farms from the rural area of Sinj and its surroundings and other parts of Croatia help to promote and sell their products.

Last year’s fair experienced exceptional attendance and this year will see even more exhibitors from all over Croatia, and at least 20% of local producers. Therefore, we as organizers are obliged to ensure bigger exhibit space with more tables so our Fair can meet the visitors’ expectations and maintain high quality.
